Trivia
The song that Raiman sings is "Anyone who knows what love is (will understand)", by Irma Thomas. This is the same song that Abi performs in the Season 1 Black Mirror episode "15 Million Merits" and in Season 2's "White Christmas" by Beth
The term "roaches" used in the episode can be regarded as a reference to Rwandan genocide in 1994 - during the atrocities, Hutu-led broadcasting stations would often use word "roach" (inkotanyi) as euphemism for Tutsi to avoid potential allegations of engaging in hate speech.
The language the civilians are speaking is Danish.
The premise of the episode is taken almost directly from an early 20th Century pseudo-science called Eugenics, which postulated that the human race could be improved by selective breeding and preventing "inferior" people from reproducing. Ultimately, this practice of extinguishing undesirables led to The Holocaust, though mass sterilizations of the handicapped, mentally ill, and those considered genetically inferior (Negroes, Arabs, Jews, and "the mongrel races of the Orient") also occurred in the United States and much of Europe.
One soldier has the name tag Medina. Captain Ernest Medina was court-martialed for his role in the My Lai massacre.
The first scenes are filmed in the pit area at Silverstone F1 race track in Northamptonshire.
